Colecalciferol increases the amount of vitamin D in your body. It is also used for other conditions such as osteoporosis (weak bones).
Take the capsule as directed with a glass of water. The capsules can be taken with or without food, but do not chew the capsule.
Take the missed dose as soon as possible. If it is close to the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and carry on as normal. Do not take two doses at the same time.
Some medicines available without a prescription may react with Colecalciferol including:
Tell your pharmacist or doctor about all medicines or treatments that you may be taking, including digoxin or bendroflumethiazide. As you should avoid high doses of Colecalciferol.
Also let your doctor know if you have inflammatory bowel disease, kidney stones, kidney disease, heart disease or sarcoidosis.
Please tell your doctor if you notice: headache, confusion, vision changes, weakness, tiredness, dry mouth, metallic taste, feeling thirsty, loss of appetite, irregular heartbeat, muscle pain, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, constipation, peeing more often. This may mean you have Vitamin D toxicity.
This medication should not have an adverse effect on your ability to drive or operate machinery. However, if you feel unwell, drowsy or dizzy refrain from driving and consult your doctor.
